In the Mountain
En la montaña
SERIES:Crónicas
An intimate and reflective journey through the legacy of the Zapatista movement on its global journey.
En la montaña is a book about the author’s experience with the Zapatista movement from its beginnings to the present day. This text, mixing journalism chronicle and personal reflection, begin- ning in 2021 with the author’s invitation from the Zapatista Army of National Liberation to be part of the crew of the ship La Montaña, in which a Zapatista delegation would cross the Atlantic Ocean, starting a journey across five continents. His role was to be an external witness to record events during this journey. Osorno uses this trip to detail what the movement represents in today’s political and social landscape and review Zapatismo’s history through chronicles, testimonies, and reflective exercises from a journa- listic and personal perspective.
