Erik G. Schwimmer (1923) se doctoró por la universidad de British Columbia en 1970. Es catedrático del departamento de antropología de la universidad Laval de Quebec. Interesado en el análisis estructural, ha publicado artículos dedicados a la antropología semiótica. Es autor de The World of the Maori, The Maori People in the Nineteen Sixties, Cultural consecuences of a volcanic eruption, Exchange in the social structure of the Orokaiva.
